Mahmoud Jihad Jarad, 23, was shot dead in the chest by Israeli troops during an overnight raid on Tulkarm refugee camp in the northern West Bank, official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

A family member, Iyad Abdulrahim Jarad, confirmed to AFP that his relative was shot after the Israeli army entered the camp.

Four others sustained injuries in the abdomen, pelvis, foot and shoulder respectively.

Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967 and its forces regularly make violent incursions into Palestinian communities.

The occupation military claims "suspects blocked routes and fired toward the soldiers, who responded with live fire" during the raid.

Jarad's body was shrouded in a Palestinian flag, his head wrapped in a keffiyeh, as he was carried through the streets in a funeral procession.

The latest fatality brings to 214 the number of Palestinians murdered by Israel so far this year, according to an AFP tally, and at least 220, according to WAFa count.

Some 28 Israelis have also been killed.

An additional minimum of four Palestinians were injured by rubber-coated steel bullets on Friday when Israeli forces forcefully dispersed an anti-settlement weekly protest in Kafr Qaddoum village, located to the east of Qalqilia, WAFA reported
