Iran’s Tasnim news agency confirmed the attack on the Portuguese-flagged MSC Aries, which is reportedly connected to the London-based company "Zodiac Maritime," owned by Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer.

"Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) naval forces have seized a cargo ship associated with the Israeli regime," Tasnim said in a post on social media platform X showing footage of the seizure.

Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency has also acknowledged the seizure, which a Mideast defense official attributed to Iran amid wider tensions between Tehran and the West.

The attack was earlier reported by the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, which said it took place in the Gulf of Oman off the Emirati port city of Fujairah.
