Israeli warplanes struck weapons depots, military buildings, and a rocket launcher used by Hezbollah in an overnight operation, according to Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari on Thursday.
In retaliatory response, Hezbollah announced hitting Israeli military positions on Thursday by drones in Kiryat Shmona settlement.
On Wednesday, Hezbollah fired more than 50 rockets and a barrage of drones at the northern Israeli Katzrin settlement in the occupied Golan Heights.
Most of the projectiles were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defence system, but several hit Katzrin, causing heavy damage to homes and injuring an Israeli man.
Israeli Channel 12 said that cross-border clashes on the northern front sparked fires in 790 locations, covering an area of 189,000 dunams.
Israel and Hezbollah have traded near-daily strikes for more than 10 months against the backdrop of the Israeli war on Gaza.
The exchanges have killed more than 500 people in Lebanon — mostly fighters but also including around 100 civilians and non-combatants — and 23 soldiers and 26 civilians in Israel.
Visiting the occupied Golan Heights on Wednesday, Israeli Far-Right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir demanded a military campaign against Hezbollah, describing it as “an opportunity Israel must not miss.”
Many countries have called on their citizens this month to leave Lebanon for their safety.
