Around 16 airlines have announced they are halting flights to and from Israel, with some suspensions lasting until Monday and others remaining in effect until further notice, Israeli news outlet Haaretz reported.

The flight suspensions come after a series of intense rocket exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah early Sunday.

Air France said it had suspended flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut for Sunday and Monday after Israeli air strikes on Lebanon, according to AFP.

“Flights today and tomorrow are suspended,” a spokesman said, noting the suspension could be extended depending on the situation.

Lufthansa also extended its suspension of flights to Beirut until the end of September and will not fly to Tel Aviv and Tehran until September 2.

Etihad Airways and Aegean Airlines have also cancelled flights to and from Ben Gurion Airport, Haaretz reported.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s Royal Jordanian suspended flights to Beirut on Sunday “due to the current situation,” according to Jordan's state news agency, without specifying a timeframe.

Lebanon's civil aviation authority emphasised Sunday that "the airport is functioning normally" despite some disruptions.

Earlier in the day, Israel announced the resumption of flights to Ben Gurion Airport following a brief suspension of air activity due to security concerns.

Udi Bar Oz, Director General of Ben Gurion Airport, told the Times of Israel that the schedule is slowly returning to normal after a two-hour closure from 5:20 to 7:00 this morning.

“It will be a complicated day but it’s under control. Most of the flights will depart… As the day progresses, the delays will be reduced,” he said.

He acknowledged that several foreign airlines have cancelled flights today and said efforts are ongoing to determine when services will resume.
