Smoke rises after an Israeli airstrike in Syria's Quneitra. AFP
Israel's air force "eliminated" a Hezbollah figure in Syria, the army said in a statement, identifying him as Adham Jahout, a liaison between the Syrian government and the Lebanese group.
The Israeli army said the air raid struck in the area of Quneitra in southwestern Syria near the Israel-occupied Golan Heights.
The announcement of the air raid comes hours after Israel's military chief Herzi Halevi vowed to keep up Israel's assault on Lebanon, saying strikes on its northern neighbor would continue "without respite".
