Safieddine, 60, had been floated as a potential successor to Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike on 27 September.
Israel's army confirmed Tuesday it killed Safieddine in a strike in a southern Beirut suburb three weeks ago.
Hezbollah also has not yet issued an official statement regarding Safieddine’s reported death or the recovery of the body.
The news comes amid intensified Israeli strikes targeting senior Hezbollah figures.
Before his death, seven high-ranking officials, including Nasrallah, were assassinated in Israeli operations.
The other officials include Nabil Kaouk, Ibrahim Akil, Ahmad Wehbe, Ali Karaki, Mohammad Surour, and Ibrahim Kobeissi, along with several other commanders killed in combat.
Additionally, more than 1,550 people have been killed in bombardment by Israel since the air campaign on Lebanon last month, according to an AFP tally updated with new figures released on Tuesday.
Naim Qassem, the deputy secretary-general, is currently Hezbollah’s acting head until a replacement for longtime leader Nasrallah is chosen.
