Hezbollah member of the Lebanese parliament, Hassan Fadlallah, stated that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant's threats to assassinate Hezbollah's new Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, will not deter the resistance from continuing its path.

Following Hezbollah's announcement of Naim Qassem's succession to Nasrallah, Gallant posted a photo of Qassem on X on Tuesday with the caption: "Temporary appointment. Not for long," in an implicit indication of Israel's planing to assassinate him.

Fadlallah emphasized that these threats would not stop Naim Qassem from pursuing the resistance's path until victory. "The response will be an even stronger commitment to our legitimate right to defend our country", he said, asserting that the Israeli threats are ineffective against the resistance and its leaders and "will not make us back down."

During a press conference, Fadlallah said Israel's ultimate goal in its aggression is to destroy Hezbollah and impose a new equation in the region. He explained that the occupation has been attempting for days to advance toward the town of Khiyam, where the resistance fighters are firmly repelling all infiltration attempts, and that the resistance, positioned south of the Litani River, directs its rockets toward occupation forces' gatherings behind the border.

Hezbollah announced on Tuesday that the group's Shura Council elected Sheikh Naim Qassem as secretary general of Hezbollah, more than a month after Israel assassinated Nasrallah in Lebanon.

Qassem, 71, was one of Hezbollah's founders in 1982 and had been the party's deputy secretary general since 1991, the year before Nasrallah took the helm.
