"Netanyahu visited the Lebanon border today," his office said in a statement, his second such visit to the frontier in less than a month.

Netanyahu's visit came as more than 100 projectiles were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory on Sunday, the military said.

Several of these projectiles were intercepted by the air force, while some fell in unpopulated areas, the military added.

Israel escalated its air raids on south Lebanon, Beirut and the eastern Bekaa Valley from September 23, after a year of cross-border fire with Hezbollah. A week later it invaded southern Lebanon.

The Israeli escalation has killed more than 1,930 people in Lebanon since September 23, according to an AFP tally of health ministry figures, though the real toll may be higher due to gaps in the data.
