Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, explained that Yemen would chair the meeting at the AL General Secretariat's headquarters in Cairo.

On Wednesday, Iraq accused Israel of attempting to legitimize an attack on its territory after the Israeli foreign ministry sent a letter to the president of the UN Security Council protesting about attacks by Iraqi militants.

Earlier, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said that Israel holds the Iraqi government responsible for "everything that happens on its territory," stressing that Tel Aviv has the right to "self-defence."

Several non-state armed groups in Iraq, led by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, have repeatedly struck against military targets in Israel in solidarity with Palestinians facing an Israeli genocidal war in the Gaza Strip since October 2023.
