In a statement carried by the Houthi-run Al-Masirah television channel, the group's health ministry confirmed that the death toll had reached nine, including four children and two women. A further 174 people were reported wounded, among them 59 children and 35 women.
The Houthi-affiliated broadcaster said Israeli warplanes targeted residential neighbourhoods, civilian facilities, and critical infrastructure across the capital. Among the sites hit were densely populated areas and the Dhahban power station, with widespread destruction and high civilian casualties reported.
The attacks drew swift and widespread condemnation from human rights organisations and development centres, all of whom denounced the strikes as deliberate war crimes.
They were the latest in a series of deadly Israeli attacks on Yemeni cities and ports as the Houthis continue targeting Israeli cities with drones and missiles in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.
Yemeni authorities categorically rejected Israeli claims that the attacks targeted military facilities, insisting that only civilian infrastructure and homes were hit.
