Moroccan monarch Mohammed VI to kick off regional tour on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia, state news agency reports

King Mohammed VI of Morocco arrives on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia where he begins an Arab tour, the state news agency SPA reported on Monday.

King Mohammed will discuss ties between his North African nation and the oil-rich Gulf kingdom as well as regional affairs, SPA said, without disclosing the length of the visit.

After Saudi Arabia, the king is scheduled to travel on to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Jordan, according to a programme released by Morocco's royal court.

The six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in December announced a five-billion-dollar fund for development plans in Jordan and Morocco.

But no practical measures have been taken to enrol them in the group since a GCC proposal in May 2011 for both countries to join.
