Israeli occupation forces carried out an incursion on Monday into the western countryside of Daraa in southern Syria, in a new violation of Syrian sovereignty, according to Syria’s state news agency SANA.

SANA said Israeli occupation forces entered the area between the villages of Ma‘ariya and Abidin at dawn and set up a temporary checkpoint at the Al-Maqsam junction, raising concern among residents and restricting movement.

At the same time, another Israeli force using two military vehicles carried out an incursion into the villages of Bir Ajam and Old Bariqa in the southern countryside of Quneitra.

Israel has continued aggressive policies and repeated violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, including incursions into southern Syria, raids and arbitrary arrests, forcible displacement, destruction of property, and the bulldozing of farmland.

According to a tally by Anadolu Agency, Israeli forces have carried out 42 ground incursions since the beginning of December, some of which involved arrests.

Syria has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from its territory, saying all Israeli measures in southern Syria have no legal effect under international law.

Damascus has also urged the international community to act to stop these practices, press for a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Syria, and ensure a return to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
