The Tasnim news agency reported that a “decisive operation by Iran’s armed forces in response to the US enemy has begun,” adding that “US bases and interests in the region are being targeted by Iranian missiles and drones.”
“As we had previously warned and promised, the Iranian armed forces will respond decisively and extensively to any aggression against our country’s territory and interests,” a senior military source told Tasnim.
The Fars news agency also reported on Iran’s retaliation, saying Iranian missiles and drones had been launched toward “enemy positions,” citing observations by its reporters on the ground.
Earlier, the US military said its forces had launched strikes against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in response to attempted attacks on commercial shipping and American forces.
President Donald Trump warned Iran against retaliating for the latest US strikes, saying Tehran would face “much harder and higher” attacks if it struck back. Trump said the US attacks near the Strait of Hormuz were in response to Iran laying mines and firing missiles at an American base in Jordan.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, however, vowed to make the United States “regret” the latest attacks around the Strait of Hormuz.
“Severe punishment awaits the aggressors; the United States will regret its new attacks,” Guards spokesman Hossein Mohebi said in a post on X, after explosions were reported in multiple areas along and east of the strategic waterway.
