This photo is a grab from a video released by Iran’s Mehr News Agency showing the aftermath of a US strike on an Iranian wedding ceremony.
"Following a US missile attack, shrapnel hit a residential home in the city of Kuhestak, in Sirik county of Hormozgan province, where a wedding celebration was taking place," the Red Crescent said in a post on X.
"More than 50 people were injured and four people, including a young child, were martyred."
A video shared by an Iranian government account showed extensive debris and damage at what it said was the site of the wedding in Sirik following the US strike, with people heard screaming in the background.
Earlier, the deputy governor of the southern Hormozgan province Ahmad Nafisi told state television: "Two people were reported martyred and a number of others wounded."
The southern Sirik county lies along the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Wednesday called the United States "Satan" after an attack on the wedding ceremony.
"Minab school: children massacred. Lamerd sports hall: kids slaughtered. Kouhestak wedding: children killed with families. If a power acts like Satan, picks targets like Satan, and kills like Satan, it's Satan. Shields a junior Satan that does the same? It's THE Great Satan," said Ghalibaf in a post on X.
In March, a preliminary US military investigation concluded that American forces were responsible for a deadly Feb. 28 strike on an elementary school in Minab, Iran, the New York Times reported, citing US officials and others familiar with the findings.
The findings are consistent with several other analyses. That same month, investigative group Bellingcat said a released video “appeared to contradict” US President Donald Trump’s claim that Iran was responsible for an explosion at the Iranian school that killed at least 175 people, includinf 120 children, at the start of the war.
The United States had said it was carrying out strikes against targets of Iran's Revolutionary Guards following their "recent attempted attacks ... against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members deployed to the region".
On Tuesday, Iranian media reported explosions in multiple cities along and east of Hormuz as well as at an airport in the southern Kerman province.
The war began in late February with US-Israeli attacks on Iran that killed its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
A fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran collapsed after attacks on commercial ships in the Hormuz strait, through which one-fifth of world oil supplies flowed before the war.
