UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will arrive in Egypt on Monday 19 November. It is expected that the Secretary-General will meet with the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and Egyptian officials to discuss the possibility of a ceasefire between Palestine and Israel to end the current ongoing assault on Gaza.

Ki-moon's visit coincides with that of Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal whose presence in Egypt is also connected to the Israeli attacks. It is open to speculation whether talks will take place between Ki-moon and Meshaal.
