The United States does not believe claims that Palestinian prime minister Salam Fayyad is on the verge of resigning, a senior State Department official said on Thursday.

"He's not tendering his resignation to the best of my knowledge. He's not doing it. As far as I know he's sticking around," the official said on the sidelines of G8 talks in London.
