South Sudan's Red Cross reported at least 19 civilians killed in new clashes between rival army factions which have spread outside the capital, the United Nations said Wednesday.

UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said the new fighting was in Bor, capital of Jonglei state. He added that tensions were also rising in other states after South Sudan's president accused a rival of attempting a coup.
