Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Thursday appointed energy minister Youcef Yousfi as interim prime minister ahead of next month's presidential election, national media reported.

Yousfi, 72, replaces Abdelmalek Sellal, who is expected to be formally nominated to run Bouteflika's campaign to secure a fourth term in office.
