Israel will act "forcefully" to defend itself, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after a blast wounded three soldiers in the occupied Golan Heights on Tuesday.

"We will act forcefully to preserve Israel's security," he said in remarks broadcast on army radio, saying there were an increasing number of jihadists and Lebanese Hezbollah fighters on the Syrian side of the strategic plateau.

His remarks were made after an explosion hit an Israeli military jeep patrolling the Israel-Syria ceasefire line, wounding three soldiers, one of them seriously, in the third such incident along Israel's northern frontiers in two weeks, security sources said.
