The British Police has described a recent attack on three Emirati women in London as unusually violent and that investigators are dealing with it as attempted murder.
The three women aged in their 30s, with three children, were attacked in their room in the Cumberland Hotel, central London, at about 2am last Sunday.
According to police, one of the victims is “in a critical but stable condition” at a central London hospital. The other two victims “sustained serious injuries but their conditions are not life-threatening.”
The investigation into the incident is being led by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, under Detective Chief Inspector Andy Chalmers, a source close to the investigation told Ahram Online.
“This was an unusually violent attack on three women and I am very keen to speak with anyone who was in or around the hotel between 01.00hrs and 02.00hrs on Sunday morning,” Chalmers was quoted as saying.
Investigators appealed to the public for information following the attack. They pledged to guarantee anonymity for any informant.
No arrests have been made.
Initial investigations show the attacker was male. Detectives believe the suspect was disturbed when some of the occupants of the room woke up, and the three women were subsequently assaulted with a hammer which was later recovered from the scene.
“At this stage, officers retain an open mind regarding the motive for the attack," the source said.
