Macedonian police on Sunday fired tear gas at hundreds of migrants on the Greek side of the border as they tried to break through the fence, a Greek police source said.

The incident took place near the Idomeni border crossing in northern Greece where more than 11,200 people have been stranded after the Balkan states closed off the migrant route in mid February.
