A mother and five of her children were killed Saturday when a fire tore through a house in United Kingdom, emergency services said.
Around 30 firefighters fought the blaze that broke out at the property in the Neasden district of northwest London at around 1:00am and took around two hours to bring under control.
A 41-year-old woman and five children — aged 14, 13, nine, five and two — died in the fire, police said. A 51-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl escaped the blaze with burns and are being treated in hospital, police said.
Police and the fire service said they were investigating the blaze, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
"There's no doubt, this is an absolute tragedy," said Glen Gorman, from the London Fire Service. "We are now working with the police to ensure a full and thorough investigation is carried out."
