Presidential candidate Donald Trump has tapped four of his immediate family to speak at the upcoming Republican convention in Cleveland.

The quadrennial rally, designed to bring the party together and catapult it towards November's election, will include no former presidents and only a smattering of elected officials and party luminaries.

One notable absentee from the list is Indiana Governor Mike Pence.

But he could be destined for the prime time speaking slot reserved for Trump's prospective vice president.

Trump will make his pick known on Friday in New York.

The bombastic millionaire shocked party elders by winning the Republican presidential primary by a landslide.

The party goes into the convention riven with divisions. Many delegates say they cannot get behind Trump and his populist rhetoric.

To win them over, Trump has tapped wife Melania, daughters Ivanka and Tiffany and son Donald Trump Jr.

"The convention's theme," according to convention CEO Jeff Larson, will be Trump's campaign promise to "Make America Great Again"

It "will focus on the core themes of Republican Presidential Nominee Donald J. Trump's campaign: national security, immigration, trade and jobs."
