Medvedev appoints former KGB Kremlin chief of staff

Former KGB spy is appointed as Russia's chief of staff by President Dmitry Medvedev, who is soon to vacate office for current Prime Minister Vladimir Putin

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev appointed Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov as Kremlin chief of staff on Thursday, ITAR-TASS news agency reported.

Ivanov, a former KGB spy and close ally of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, is currently responsible for the military industrial complex and the technology sector.

Kremlin chief of staff is one of the most powerful jobs in Russian politics.
