Hong Kong riot officers fired tear gas on Saturday evening at pro-democracy protesters who were besieging a police station in a popular tourist district, the latest clashes to rock the international finance hub.

Police followed up multiple volleys of tear gas with baton charges in Tsim Sha Tsui district, AFP reporters on the scene reported, scattering protesters into streets normally filled with shoppers and tourists.
