European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday signed off on Spain's recovery plan seeking funds from the bloc's massive coronavirus rescue package.

"The European Commission has decided to give its green light to Spain's recovery and resilience plan," she said at a press conference in Madrid with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, just hours after a similar meeting in the Portuguese capital.
