British Prime Minister David Cameron will hold talks with Francois Hollande on Tuesday when the French president makes his first visit to Britain since taking office. The two leaders will discuss a number of issues over lunch on Tuesday, including the eurozone crisis, a spokesman for Cameron's Downing Street office said.

"It is his first visit to Britain so the meeting will cover a broad range of issues, but it will cover the eurozone crisis," a Downing Street spokesman told AFP. Cameron's eurosceptic stance has caused consternation in France as the eurozone crisis rumbles on.

On Monday, Cameron said the "status quo" of Britain's membership of the European Union was unacceptable but spoke against calls from many in his centre-right Conservative party for an "in-out" referendum on the issue.

Cameron may also have some making up to do after a cheeky comment he made about Socialist Hollande's tax policies at last month's G20 summit in Mexico caused a political row in France.

Cameron, whose country is not a member of the eurozone, said Britain was preparing to welcome an exodus of French high-earners fleeing Hollande's plan to impose a 75 percent tax rate on top salaries.

The comment caused a storm in the French media and prompted a cool reaction from Hollande, who took power in May."Everyone should take responsibility for what he says. I do. At a time when European solidarity should be strong, I will do nothing to breach it," Hollande told reporters.

Tuesday's one-day visit follows talks between Cameron and Hollande in the United States before the G8 summit in May.
