“We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness,” Trump said in a post on his social media network.
Trump also said, “Our love goes out to the other victims and their families” and he said he’s praying “for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed.”
“In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” he adds.
The Republican candidate also suggested he would attend the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee this week as planned.
Representatives for his campaign did not immediately respond to questions Sunday morning about changes to Trump’s schedule.
“I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin,” Trump wrote.
Meanwhile, the US Secret Service on Sunday denied claims that it had refused additional protection for Trump ahead of his Pennsylvania campaign rally, where he was shot in the ear in an assassination attempt.
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said on social media platform X that the assertions were "absolutely false," adding that the agency had "added protective resources & technology & capabilities as part of the increased campaign travel tempo."
This follows accusations by House Republican lawmaker Mike Waltz in which he said that he has very reliable sources telling him there have been repeated requests for stronger secret service protection for President Trump, denied by Secretary Mayorkas.
