A retired Supreme Court judge says the late Gen. Augusto Pinochet knew in detail about crimes committed by his repressive secret police agency during the country's dictatorship.
Alejandro Solis ordered the arrest of dozens of security officers over more than a decade on charges tied to the disappearance and killing of leftist dissidents during the brutal regime.
He made his comments to local Radio Cooperativa on the sixth anniversary of Pinochet's death.
Pinochet ruled Chile from 1973 to 1990 and then was a senator for life. He died on Dec. 10, 2006, under house arrest, without ever being tried on charges of illegal enrichment and human rights violations.
Chile's government estimates that 3,095 people were killed during Pinochet's regime.
