Five people including a woman from the Philippines died after a vehicle crashed through a barrier in Beijing's Tiananmen Square on Monday and caught fire, with 38 injured, state media said, raising an earlier toll.

The official Xinhua news agency, which gave the updated toll on Twitter, earlier said the SUV driver and two passengers in the vehicle had died. Qianlong.net, which is run by Beijing city authorities, said the other two victims were tourists, one a woman from the Philippines and the other a Chinese man.
