A Monday march by far-right groups turns violent outside Russian embassy in Poland

The Russian foreign ministry on Tuesday summoned the Polish ambassador after ultra-nationalist rioters in Warsaw set alight cars and overturned a guard's booth outside the Russian embassy.

"The Polish ambassador Wojciech Zajaczkowski is being summoned to the foreign ministry over yesterday's excesses against the Russian embassy in Warsaw," the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The spokesman for Poland's foreign ministry Marcin Wojciechowski on Monday wrote on Twitter, saying: "There is no justification for hooliganism."

Around 50,000 people surged through Warsaw on Monday in a march organised by far-right groups on Poland's independence day. Four police officers were hospitalised after demonstrators threw stones and bottles.
