S.African opposition unites, Ramphele to challenge Zuma in polls

South Africa's main opposition Democratic Alliance said Tuesday it will field charismatic politician and leader of a smaller party Agang, Mamphela Ramphele, as its candidate to challenge President Jacob Zuma in upcoming general elections.

"Doctor Mamphela Ramphele has accepted the DA's invitation to stand as our presidential candidate in the 2014 general elections," DA leader Helen Zille told a news conference.
