El-Nasr Company for Intermediate Chemicals (NCIC), which is affiliated with Egypt’s National Service Projects Organization, and Germany's Thyssenkrupp have signed a contract to establish a nitrogenous fertiliser complex in Egypt’s Ain El-Sokhna.

The complex will comprise six factories.

The move comes within the framework of the state's efforts to implement comprehensive development plans and construct new national mega-projects, which will in turn contribute to pushing forward the country's economy and securing thousands of jobs for young people. 

The new complex, which comes as part of the second phase of the largest complex for phosphate and compound fertilisers in Ain Sokhna, is meant to maximise the use of available economic resources and increase the production of nitrogenous fertilisers with the aim of meeting local market needs and exporting the surplus to world markets. 

During the signing ceremony, the director-general of the National Service Projects Organisation said that the complex constitutes a huge industrial edifice and represents a significant addition to cooperation ties between Egypt and Germany.

The NCIC board chairman also said that the project will contribute to providing a base of qualified technical cadres in this field. He said that international experts will be employed in the project, which, he promised, will abide by international standards of safety, occupational health and the environment.

Germany's Thyssenkrupp representative hailed the level of coordination between the two sides to finalise all measures related to establishing the complex.
