Egypt's trade balance deficit hits $3.87 bln in April 2019: CAPMAS

Egypt's trade balance deficit rose to $3.87 billion in April 2019 compared to $3.63 billion in April 2018, marking an increase of 6.8 percent, said the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Thursday.

Egypt's exports increased by 0.5 percent in April 2019, recording $2.58 billion compared to $2.57 billion in the same period the previous year.
The agency attributed the boost to the increase in exports of some products like petroleum products by 231. percent, crude oil by 35.0 percent, garments by 4.8 percent and plastics by 8.8 percent.

The report showed that Egypt's imports witnessed an increase of 4.2 percent to reach $6.46 billion during April 2019.

Iron and steel, wheat, plastics and pharmaceutical drugs accounted for most of Egypt's imports during April.
