Leader of Palestinian resistance faction Hamas enters Egypt via Rafah crossing to discuss Gaza fuel crisis, Palestinian reconciliation with Egyptian officialdom

Hamas leader Ismail Haniya is to begin a several-day visit to Egypt on Monday.

Yousef Rizka, Haniya's political advisor, told the SAFA news agency that Haniya would enter Egypt through the Rafah border crossing and would focus on three main issues with Egyptian officialdom: Gaza's ongoing fuel shortage, the resulting power outage, and Palestinian reconciliation talks.

Rizka added that Haniya would attend meetings with the Egyptian officials related to these issues, adding that the head of Hamas' political office, Khaled Meshaal, would also meet with Haniya to discuss reconciliation talks recently held in Qatar.

Haniya had returned to Gaza on Thursday following a second regional tour during which he visited Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE and Iran.
