The Egyptian Tax Authority will exempt VAT and income tax payments from administrative fees during the period of submission to 16 April.

The authority will accept tax payments in cash or by cheque for income tax and VAT at its branches around the country, ETA head Reda Abdel-Kader said in a Friday statement.

He said the move to waive fees is part of the state’s preventive procedures to contain the coronavirus outbreak and aims to ease procedures for taxpayers.

He added that it came also in light of the Central Bank of Egypt’s new working hours, which end at 1:30pm.

Egypt last week implemented a curfew from 7pm to 6am.
