Nissan Automotors is seeking to expand its investments in Egypt, the company's Vice Chairman Toshiyuki Shiga said in a meeting in Tokyo with the Cairo envoy Ismail Khairat on Saturday.

The company is hoping that growing its investments in Egypt will support its strategy to increase their market share in Africa, according to Shiga.

He added that his company is currently studying the possible introduction of more economically efficient vehicles to the Egyptian market.

For his part, Khairat praised Nissan's performance in the Egyptian market, saying it has became the most prominent among Japanese cars in Egypt.

Nissan, one of the largest automakers in the world, has manufactured more than 100,000 cars since it started operating in Egypt in 2005, added Khairat.
