Low occupancy rates force the Egyptian carrier to renege its flight expansion plans to Yemen

Egyptair has decided to decrease its weekly flights between Cairo and Sanaa from seven to just four trips.

An official from the Egyptian carrier said that the cuts are due to low occupancy rates on to-and-from flights through the Yemeni capital. He denied receiving any requests from Yemeni officials regarding the matter.

According to the official, Egyptair had planned to increase the number of flights between the two capitals to 10 weekly trips during the summer; however, political turbulences prevented this from materialising.

From its side, Yemenia Airways merged its trips between Cairo, Frankfurt and Sanaa into one.
