Ahmed El-Boraie, minister of labour and immigration, announced that a new minimum wage will be announced within days.
El-Boraie addressed the “Democratic Transformation in Egypt Conference” saying the cabinet is committed to achieving social justice in Egypt, citing the abolishment of the real estate tax and the new insurance law as two examples.
He added that the cabinet is currently studying income tax cuts as a step forward towards achieving social justice.
The minister also stressed the importance of having a clear “political” approach towards labour issues, highlighting that measures are currently being taken to ensure the independence of trade unions.
