Egypt's largest state-run newspaper Al-Ahram signed a partnership agreement with telecom operator Vodafone to sell digital copies of the daily online, Al-Ahram officials announced the deal on Wednesday.

The daily newspaper will be available for download on Vodafone's kotobi.com, a digital bookstore for Arabic publications, starting 1 July at  LE1 per issue for customers inside Egypt and $1 for buyers outside the country, said Hatem Hazaa, Director of Digital Development at Al-Ahram.

Kotobi will charge LE15 for monthly subscriptions by Egypt residents and $15 for customers outside the country.

Since its Launching in February 2014, 200,000 users have downloaded Kotobi's mobile application, which is available on the App Store and Google Play.

Al-Ahram will be the first newspaper to be sold on Kotobi, which currently sells books only, Hazaa says.
