Several countries warn against travelling to Egypt

Russia and Australia ask their citizens to reconsider travel plans in the wake of renewed protests while others advise extreme caution when near the revolution's hotspots

Several countries have reinstated their travel warnings as protesters again take to the streets in Cairo and other cities across Egypt, says the tourism minister, Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour.

The Russian and Australian travel ministries have advised their citizens to reconsider any visits to Egypt and only travel in case of extreme necessity.

Italy and the United Kingdom have warned their citizens about the potential for clashes in Tahrir Square and advised extreme caution while in downtown Cairo.

Canada has warned against travelling to Cairo, but indicated that Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor and Aswan are safe to visit.
