Anonymous sources say the Central Bank move is aimed at repaying Qatar $1 billion

Egypt’s Central Bank will issue one-year dollar-denominated treasury bills worth $1.1 billion to local banks and international financial institutions on 15 December, the MENA state news agency reported Thursday citing a CBE statement.

The dollar t-bills will mature on 16 December in 2016 with a nominal value of $100,000 each. The t-bills' interest rate is yet to be announced.

MENA cited anonymous bankers as saying that the CBE move is aimed at repaying Qatar $1 billion worth of bonds that mature 7 January.
