The General Federation of NGOs, lead by its president Abdel Aziz Hegazi, reached an agreement with the American Embassy in Cairo to organise the American funding for NGOs in correspondence with Egypt’s priorities, the daily newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm reported.
The task of distributing funds will be referred to the federation, along with the Ministry of International Cooperation, to ensure the transfer of funds to their designated recipients.
Hegazi added that USAID serves a small number of associations, despite its large funding and it is shared according to the priorities of the donor state, not the recipient.
“That is why it needs to be discussed again,” he says.
