Egypt and Bahrain have signed 11 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in different fields at a joint business forum held in Cairo on Tuesday as the Bahraini king arrived in Egypt for a two-day visit, state news agency MENA reported.
The MoUs include vocational training, scientific research, fertilisers, pharmaceuticals and electricity, MENA added, without further details about financial values.
Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is expected to sign a number of economic deals and MoUs with King Hamad Bin Issa Al-Khalifa at the Ittihadiya Presidential Palace, and will hold a joint press conference afterwards to discuss the deals signed.
Total Bahraini investments in Egypt are worth some $2.7 billion, with the trade volume rising to $320 million in 2014 from $181 million the year before, according to a statement by the Egyptian trade and industry ministry.
