Egypt sells LE6 billion in treasury bills, as planned

Central bank offloads another batch of short-term debt to domestic buyers

Egypt's Ministry of Finance said the central bank sold LE6 billion (US$1.01 billion) in domestic treasury bills on Thursday, the same amount it had offered.

The bank sold LE2.5 billion of 182-day T-bills on behalf of the ministry at an average yield of 12.952 per cent, up from 12.639 per cent at its last auction on Monday.

The bank also sold LE3.5bn  of 364-day T-bills at an average yield of 13.600 per cent, up from 12.979 per cent at the last issue on 23 August.
