The US Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide Egypt in 2011 with a fund worth $250 million for poverty reduction and infrastructure development, announced USAID manager James Biefer said in a meeting yesterday with the governor of Assuit, Nabil Azmy.
Biefer discussed the proposed projects in fields such as education, health, and job creation. Azmy briefed the USAID manager on the progress of infrastructure projects in the Upper Egyptian govornorate of Assiut, focusing on developments in the field of education.
He also stressed the importance of fighting poverty, which he said, is the biggest facing the government's development plans.
