Egypt's stocks inch up in calm trade on Sunday

Egypt's main index, EGX30, edged up 0.56 percent to 6,981 points amid modest daily stock turnover worth EGP 238 million as the trading will be halted for five days from Tuesday due to Eid El-Fitr.

Non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of EGP 24.5 million while Egyptians were net buyers to the tune of EGP 13 million and Arabs to the tune of EGP 11 million.

Market bellwether Commercial International Bank (CIB) inched down 0.15 percent to EGP 39.8 per share while Global Telecom Holding gained 0.31 percent to EGP 3.19 a share.

Steel manufacturer, Ezz Steel, which was the most traded for the day, rose 2.09 percent to EGP 7.37 a share.

Real estate developer Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG) increased 1.64 percent to register EGP 4.96 per share.

The investment bank EFG Hermes also rallied 1.78 percent to be traded at 10.86 per share.

The bourse is scheduled to reopen on Sunday 10 July.
