Egypt's major stocks have plunged over 3 per cent in the opening half-hour of Sunday trade, following battles between protesters and riot police in central Cairo.
The benchmark EGX30 sits at 4,002 points, 2.97 per cent down on its opening level.
Last week the index took five consecutive days of losses and shed over 5 per cent on resurgent violence in Egyptian provinces and fears of Friday protests.
