Egypt’s natural gas production rose to its highest level ever in September, hitting a record of 7.2 billion cubic feet per day, the country's petroleum minister said on Friday.
The record high production has led to an increase in the use of natural gas domestically now that the country has achieved self-sufficiency gas production, said Petroleum Minister Tarek El-Molla in a ministry statement.
Over the past two years the natural gas industry has developed significantly, the minister said, citing the export of the country’s natural gas surplus and the development of value-added industries.
The statements were made during the general assembly of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), where the minister noted President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's full support for the petroleum sector and his keenness on following up on the implementation of natural gas projects.
