Egypt allocated EGP 65.5 bn for projects in Upper Egypt: Housing minister

MENA , Monday 18 Nov 2019

The Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities had allocated EGP 65.6 billion to implementing different housing and water projects in Upper Egypt governorates since 2014, minister Assem El-Gazzar revealed.

Those projects were meant to provide services and jobs for Upper Egypt residents, El-Gazaar stated on Monday.

The state focused on developing Upper Egypt governorates through establishing new cities, making plots of land and housing units available, as well as securing job opportunities, and carrying out drinking water and sanitation projects, he added.

Nine new cities were being established in Upper Egypt to accommodate 4.5 million people, which would contribute to creating 1.4 million jobs, the minister said.
